Chances are, if you are reading this it is very likely that you are an empath. There is also a good chance that you have been one for a long time and never really understood what makes you an empath or how to cope with it, you just went with flow with all the emotions that come attached to being an empath. To explain what is like to be an empath from my point of view, first let me find a few words, “The World Hurts”. On any given morning as I am walking to work in the middle of a busy New York street, it is very hard for me to see the homeless for example. My thoughts immediately get directed towards what must this person be suffering today. Most people can put that image away, but for me it is hard and it will bother me for a few hours. It is precisely for the same reason that I avoid watching anything that has too much of a negative content in it, as it deeply affects me as well. This starts with any kind of television or media that also show images of abuse such as children or animals, pretty much I cannot watch television anymore! (and I am ok with this ). But there is a positive of being an empath, and it is that you can sense what people or spirit is feeling and this comes very handy when you are trying to help someone. For example many a times, I am able to sense the deeper feeling that goes beyond words as someone is trying to explain something to me. This allows me to deliver a message of healing or self-love , or just comfort. In the case of communication with spirits , they allow me to feel something they felt as they died or they are also able to transmit emotions from their loved ones here on earth. And why would they want to do this? because you cannot put any words into a feeling. You just feel, engulf that emotion and then transmit or deliver the message. It does not mean the spirit is in pain, it is just a tool that is used to convey their message better. When you are an empath, it is very important to ground yourself and protect your energy, as you will see that you are very easily affected by others and you will take things a little bit harder. It is also important that you learn how to ground yourself. This is because if you are in a room with a lot of people and everyone’s energy can affect you more when you are not aware that you are an empath. So it is important to see this, as an empath you can absorb negative emotions. You can also transmit positive and negative, so it is important to be aware that you can also affect other people with your emotions as well. I hope this serves as clarification or cross reference to those of you out there who are trying to figure out if you are an empath, it makes life easier when you learn to handle this part of you.
